Mahi in the Washington, Big eye in Wilmington
Well we got the boys together to attempt a repeat of last Thursday, however the big eye had different plans! We got to the Washington around 3pm and found a pot loaded full of mahi! We picked away at them for a good hour or two on light tackle and artificial jigs and paddle tails and had an absolute blast! We’ll post on the YouTube soon of all that action, Alex our mate even jumped in and speared a nice trigger and one nice mahi too! The whales were stacked up so we thought it was game on, we marked em good too, but they just wouldn’t come up to eat! We got word there was one big eye caught in the Wilmington yesterday, so seems like the blue water that is moving south down the 100 line into the Wilmington is probably the best bet for tuna, big eye in particular. The mahi seem to be everywhere, and the blue water in the Poormans looks good for billfish! Those are the two areas we are keeping an eye on at the moment, especially the Wilmington. Inshore lumps have been showing lots of life just no tuna, but lots of mahi and bonita around! Hot Dog, Hambone, Sausages, Parking Lot any of those lumps in the 15-30 fathom range should be holding plenty of life! Good luck and tight lines! We’ll talk to y’all tomorrow!
