Some wahoo caught, marlin bite still decent….

The weather hasn’t been to cooperative this fall, September is hurricane season so all things considered were doing okay, but a lot of windy rough days have kept a lot of boats from fishing. When we have got the flat calm days like Thursday 9.18 and Friday 9.19 and other days last week its been Marlin, Mahi and tilefish no tuna really, except for a stray yellowfin here and there in the Baltimore and Washington but no significant numbers. A few of them were pretty big, one weighing 90lbs but only a handful were actually caught. The boats that can make the run north, or fish out of Jersey and NY are still continuing to have phenomenal fishing from the Hudson to Atlantis yeallowfin’s, long fins, and big eyes, as many as you want to catch is the way they make it sound, and the pictures match the story! The wahoo are definitely here, we only saw a handful caught in the last few days but we know they’re around, I think they are in shallower than people realize and you just have to cover some ground to find them, and then run the lures over their heads, sea witches with wire leader and trolling a little faster than usual seems to be a productive way to catch them, you got a good shot anywhere from, the parking lot to the hambone to sausages or any of the lumps in that 20 to 30fm range. We hooked that big one we lost at the chicken bone and caught another one earlier in the summer in that same general area and depth, they should hopefully stick around for another few weeks depending what mother nature does. We stopped at a random wreck near site 11 on our way in to try for flounder or sea bass, and we pulled up, marked structure with fish on it, dropped down UVT tuna jigs and got tight instantly! There were some stud sea bass stacked up, 16-18” on average, some as big as 22” and all knot heads! Was pretty cool, I don’t sea bass fish often but usually you get a lot of throw backs or ones that are so close you have to measure, to me it was rare to catch em like that and almost every one be so big we didn’t even have to measure, was pretty awesome. Lets all hope some tunas push south towards us, as always we’ll be watching and keeping an eye, and fishing, scouting, and trying when the weather permits, next time we might specifically try and target strictly wahoo, we’ll see. Our new app will be launching as soon as next week and when it does you all will be first to know, we can’t wait to show you all! We don’t mean to be stringing you all along, remember we aren’t tech guru’s were anglers lol we just want it to be absolutely perfect or the best version we can possibly put out for you all, and making sure everything functions seamlessly, no glitches or bugs, and we will still be “testing” it for a while, but each function will work and work flawlessly, or that’s our goal! Its been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, a lot of speed bumps and pot holes and dead ends, but we’ve made it through each obstacle and now its finally almost done! In the mean time you can see on our current app where the commercial boats have been fishing, but we have been talking to them and there’s some swordfish out there and they have caught a big eye or yellowfin here and there, but they long line with 1000s of hooks that they leave out for hours, so if they only get a handful of fish, then they most likely just aren’t really around right now, in my opinion. Tight lines y’all stay bent, those tunas gotta migrate eventually!
