Tuna bite continues for Jersey and NY, rough conditions and NE winds locally….
Well if your on any social media you’ve probably seen some of the insane tuna fishing going on in the north east, there was some beautiful water and an eddy that moved from west Atlantis all the way down through the Hudson and south, and lots of boats took advantage. There was some crazy big eye bites happening, boats catching 6 to 12 fish in the 200-300lb class, just crazy fishing! We also saw some nice 100-150lb Allison or sickle yellowfins mixed in with some of the boats catching limits of yellowfin, some trolling some jigging and popping, but all catching. Then there was also a couple boats recently in the last 3-5 days who got on a chunk bite inshore south west of the Hudson and inshore of Tom’s, with lots of nice sized yellowfin. We are watching the water and hoping those fish continue to push south down the line into our range or a reasonable range for Ocean City, Chincoteague and Indian River. The water has been pretty rough the last couple weeks too, we haven’t had to many flat calm beautiful days, and it doesn’t look like were gonna get one anytime soon, but those yellowfin could be somewhere between the tea cup, the elephant trunk and the lobster claw, there is beautiful blue blended water pushed in there and its still 71-73 degrees, seems perfect to me. Luckily we have our app, and those of you who are members have access to version 1.0 and can see where the hot spots are on the map, and also see where the long line boats and trawlers have been working and you can tell most of the life has still been pretty far north, but they are working south so were staying optimistic! Another thing that really has us excited is this new updated ABFI 2.0! We’ve been working on this app so hard behind the scenes, it’s part of why we haven’t been fishing quite as much or going live as much (also no tuna, rough conditions, tourneys over etc.) because Jeff and I have been laser focused on getting this app finished and out to our members to use, and try, and test, it’s gonna be insane. Everything we wanted 1.0 to be and more, from the live member vessel tracker, to the AI powered hot spot prediction map, but this time not only does it look 100 times better, it’s easier to use and it works on phones, tablets, laptops, computers, anything with google chrome or safari etc. if you can get to alwaysbent.com it’ll work! The live member map will be a give and get thing, if you want to use the map and be able to see all the other members and where they’re fishing you’ll have to share your location! We will have “tournament mode” which is for when you choose not to share your location and you will only see your own boat on the map, no one will be able to see you and you also can’t see other members. We feel this is a fair way for everyone to network and we also have a live chat on the map where you can talk to other boats who are online! Each boat will have their boat name and will be color coordinated based off which inlet they leave out of, it is going to be awesome! The SST and Chlorophyl will both still be there as well, but the other big thing is the AI powered hot spot prediction map, the AI is getting better by the day and we’ve also figured out how to teach it more and give it more data points and now it will even highlight temperature breaks, color changes and other “productive edges” to fish! It’s gonna be an absolute game changer were so pumped and can’t wait to share it with you all!! Truly can’t believe the things we are able to do now a days with technology and the internet! Tight lines and stay bent!! Bye for now…. RIP Flip Pallot
