Wednesday is looking good!
It’s July 1st and we are all itching to get back out and get after some Tuna! The weather has been relentless especially for guys on smaller center consoles and boats that just can’t handle those big rough seas and high winds. The guys up to the north in northern New Jersey and New York have been having some spectacular fishing out near the Hudson canyon, there is a big eddy up there holding lots of life and some of the best fishing they’ve seen in years. Many reports of Big Eye, Blue fin and Yellowfin, with some boats catching as many as 30-40 Tuna in a trip!! Let’s hope we are up next and that eddy pushes down the 100 line into our Mid Atlantic canyons! There is also a filament peeling off the gulf stream and starting to form an eddy just to the north east of the Wilmington, this piece of water lines up perfectly with the blue water that’s also pushing in from the Gulf Stream. Looking at both SST Temps and Chlorophyll we recommend fishing between The Wilmington and The Spencer, for those willing to make the run, or those in Delaware or Southern New Jersey the Lindenkohl also looks great! As of now we are planning on fishing both tomorrow and Wednesday, if the weather permits. Tomorrow we will try and run a bit further north towards the Spencer Canyon, then depending what it looks like when we get out there tomorrow, and how we do, will dictate our plan for Wednesday. We will have a fresh report bright and early tomorrow morning and updates throughout the day on social media and our private Facebook group “Always Bent Academy” If all goes to plan and that eddy continues to peel away from the Gulf Stream and push further inshore and further south, along with that blue water, by Wednesday there should be some good fishing in the Wilmington canyon!
